On August 26, 2026, NeoAnalogLab Inc. signed as an authorized reseller for Vintage Visual, the Estonian maker of the AGO Film Processor. We will carry the machine officially in Japan.

People rarely quit developing at home because the chemistry is hard. They quit because holding 38°C is tedious, because agitation demands constant attention, and because results drift from roll to roll. AGO is built to take those three things off your hands.

Compensating with Time Instead of Holding Temperature

Conventional development assumes you hold the chemistry at a fixed temperature for the whole cycle — 38°C for C-41, where a small drift is enough to shift the colour. Keeping it there is what ties you to the sink.

That is the problem Active Time-Compensation solves. A sensor at the rear of the unit reads the chemistry continuously and extends development time by exactly as much as the bath cools during the run. Rather than holding temperature constant, it absorbs the change in time.

AGO does not heat your chemistry. You still bring it up to the standard starting temperature first, with a water bath or sous-vide circulator, and the manufacturer suggests aiming 1–2°C above target. What AGO removes is the job of holding that temperature, not the job of reaching it. Once you pour and press start, though, you can walk away.

According to the manufacturer, AGO is the first processor to reach correct development through time compensation rather than temperature regulation.

Automated Agitation, Less Chemistry

Agitation runs in three modes — horizontal rotary, vertical stick, and semi-stand — with adjustable speed and configurable clockwise/counter-clockwise intervals. Hand the whole process to rotary mode, or keep your own recipe and drive it with stick agitation. A built-in alarm tells you when the next step is due.

Time compensation applies in rotary mode only. In stick agitation the tank stands upright, the temperature sensor loses contact with the chemistry, and automatic compensation is disabled.

Rotary processing lays the tank on its side, so it needs far less liquid to cover the reels: up to 60% less chemistry than traditional inversion agitation. That cuts both the cost per roll and the volume of spent chemistry you have to dispose of.

Processes and Formats

AGO handles B&W, C-41, E-6, ECN-2, and RA-4. Programs for the major chemistry kits ship preloaded — Bellini, Kodak, Fuji Hunt, Tetenal, Cinestill, Flic Film, Arista, Adox, Jobo, Ilfocolor and others — with new processes delivered over Wi-Fi.

It works with the full Paterson Super System 4 tank range: 35mm and 120, plus 110, 127 and 220, and with the dedicated reels, large format up to 4x5, 9x12cm, 5x7 and 8x10, along with Super 8. Maximum batch is 8 rolls of 35mm or 5 rolls of 120.

AGO fits Paterson Super System 4 tanks only. Jobo, AP and Yankee tanks do not work, nor does the older Paterson “Tank System”. If you plan to use tanks you already own, check the model number first, and ask us if you are unsure.

Awards

AGO won the TIPA World Award 2025 for Best Analog Product and a Red Dot Award: Product Design 2025, one for the photographic equipment and one for the industrial design. Vintage Visual states the processor is in use by more than 3,000 film photographers worldwide (the company’s own figure).
